Driver license

Driver license is a legal and official document issued by the transport department or Government that authorizes someone to operate motor vehicles. There are different types of licenses based on the type of motor vehicle like cars, trucks, and passenger transport vehicles. The first driving license was introduced in 1888 to Karl Benz in Manheim, Germany.

Driving license is issued based on driving tests. The initial process includes a written quiz type test for road signs, awareness, and general traffic rules particular to the country. Subsequently there will be a driving test by which the applicant is asked to drive the vehicle on road following signs and traffic rules. The licensing authority inspects the driving and conducts several tests including reversing vehicle, stopping at the lights, and parallel parking. The tests also vary based on the type of vehicle the license is sought for.

Driver license also severs as a purpose of a person’s identification to the country or state. It is a valid legal document that can be produced as a proof for identification. Certain countries have strict rules on maintaining the licenses and track the user’s driving habits like fines and violations. The driving rules and process of issuing license varies across countries.
